Nothing can bring warmth and life to a cold space more than plants. Plants are literally the breath of life to a space, merging two worlds, the outdoors with the indoors. Here are my favorite ways to utilize plants in my design, starting with my favorite plants, succulents.
One of my favorite things about succulents is that they are so easy to take care of. They can survive even the most deadly plant serial killers. The reason is that they require less water since they are from more arid climates. Succulents are also beautiful plants that come in many shapes, sizes, and types which make them very interesting. They can fit in many different spaces and are universally great for any type of design. Succulents are excellent for bohemian and southwestern designs, and are perfect for filling small to medium spaces.
Hanging plants such as the String of Pearls or Silver Falls can really give that cozy, warm feeling. They can make you feel like you are being embraced by a forest. If you have ever thought that you would love an indoor garden but never could find the space, then hanging plants could be a perfect option, as they don’t take up any floor space. These plants are not only bound to hanging though, as they are great for placing on shelves or bookcases. So, if you are having trouble hiding that chip on the wall or something else that is bugging you, then these plants are for you!
If you want to move on to the next level, then a vertical garden is for you. A vertical garden can transform a boring wall into a spectacular accent wall. That amount of greenery can bring personality to any space. You can also be creative with it, as there are countless combinations. If you feel like there is no way you can keep a creation like that alive, then you don’t have to fear, as you can also create a fake one that is very close to the real thing.
Air plants. The things that look like they belong on another planet are exactly what the name indicates. Plants that rely on air alone, meaning no soil required. These are fun little plants that you can be innovative with for those small spaces. Be sure to check out all the cool pots, cases, and stands for these!
Don’t forget about the planters! Planters can be just as important as the plant itself. Your plants can be elevated to the next level if you find the right planter. For example, the Snake Eyes plant is amazing in a long rectangle planter, or also in square planters. A combination of different size and shaped planters can help fill those spaces.
If you are looking for an easy, affordable way to bring life and warmth into a space then plants are your answer. Never underestimate the power of plants!
